St. Gall's All-Ireland heroes to be honoured at Celtic Park
Friday, 19th March, 2010
PRIOR to Donegal Celtic's Ladbrokes.com Championship game against Armagh City on Saturday, stars of the St Gall's All-Ireland Club title winning team will be honoured in recognition of their great sporting achievement at Croke Park on St Patrick's Day.

Former Donegal Celtic players Kieran and Conor McGourty were part of the St Gall's team that defeated Kilmurray-Ibrickane of County Clare to become the first-ever Antrim club to be crowned All-Ireland club champions.

The Andy Merrigan Cup will take pride of place among the many legendary sports stories in the west of the city and Donegal Celtic will hope to achieve its own this year by way of promotion to the Irish Premier League. Celtic are also in the hunt for silverware and preparing for an Intermediate Cup semi-final next week.

Donegal Celtic chairman Raymond Bonnar said: "We congratulate St Gall's on a remarkable achievement for gaelic football in Antrim and for putting west Belfast sport on the map once again. West Belfast is now the home of the All-Ireland club champions and hopefully at the end of our season it will also be the home of an Irish Premier League club.

"We have always prided ourselves in recognising the achievements of other athletes from our locality and have previously made boxers Martin Rogan and Brian Magee our special guests."
