Coagh United 0-2 Ballymoney United
IFA Championship - Saturday, 2nd August, 2008
GOALS from Gareth McLaughlin and David Nicholl saw Ballymoney United kick-off their season with victory over Coagh United at Hagan Park.

However, it took McLaughlin until the 79th minute to break the deadlock when he delivered a thunderous shot past Johnny Kempton after collecting a precision through ball from Aidan O'Kane.

And a mix-up in the home defence a few minutes later put the game beyond doubt when Nicholl made the most of the opportunity to slot past the 'keeper.

Coagh did come close earlier in the game through Johnny Porter, James Wardell and Gary Baird while the second half arrival of last season's leading scorer Scott McCordick failed to produce any dividends.
