Institute 1-1 Ballymoney United
JJB Sports Irish Cup - Saturday, 16th January, 2010
BALLYMONEY United came within seven minutes of earning a shock JJB Sports Irish Cup victory over Premiership opponents Institute.

'Stute enjoyed the best of what chances were created in the first half with Paul Brown and Shaun Holmes going close early on while Kevin Ramsey couldn't get on the end of a Declan Divin cross which the United defence failed to clear.

However, it was the visitors who took a shock lead five minutes after the break when Mark Gillen collected a cross from the right to keep his composure and beat Gavin Cullen into the corner of the net.

'Stute almost equalised not long after through David Ogilby who got on the end of a Holmes corner only to be denied by a fine save from 'keeper Ryan Martin.

However, with seven minutes left on the clock, Holmes popped up to break United's hearts in somewhat fortunate circumstances when a mis-hit effort took an awkward bounce and over the head of the unlucky Ballymoney custodian.
