Donegal Celtic 0-1 Cliftonville
Co-operative Insurance Cup - Saturday, 31st October, 2009
CLIFTONVILLE take a narrow lead into the second leg of their Co-operative Insurance Cup battle with Donegal Celtic courtesy of a Chris Scannell winner.

Last season's leading scorer struck on 72 minutes when home defender Daniel Hanna allowed him to nip through and slot the ball past 'keeper Declan Brown to hand the Reds not only victory on the day but an all-important away goal.

Celtic might have taken more out of the game, though, had Reds defender Barry Holland not nodded a Liam Bradley header off the line in the first half while, towards the finish, both Stephen McAlorum and Stephen O'Neill might have done better when presented with genuine chances.
